Position 1: Chief Director – Curriculum Implementation & Monitoring
- Reference: DBE/27/2025
- Branch: Curriculum Policy, Support and Monitoring
- Salary: R1,494,900 per annum (competitive government package)

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent (SAQA-recognized).
- Minimum 5 years’ senior managerial experience in planning and management.
- Deep knowledge of education policy frameworks, curriculum development, NCF (0–4 years), CAPS (Grades R–12).
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
Duties
- Provide strategic leadership in curriculum implementation and monitoring.
- Improve teacher capacity, learner participation, and success rates aligned with the National Development Plan.
- Collaborate with state institutions, NGOs, and international bodies.
- Strengthen School-Based Assessment and promote data-driven teaching.
- Enhance Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Inclusive Education access.
- Drive improvements in language and mathematics competencies at Grades 6, 9, and 12.
Position 2: Chief Director – Legal & Legislative Services

- Branch: Finance and Administration
- Salary: R1,494,900 per annum
- Centre: Pretoria
Requirements
- Bachelor of Law Degree (NQF Level 7); Master’s in Law advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years’ legal experience, with 5 years at senior managerial level.
- Must be admitted as an Attorney or Advocate.
- Strong background in Education Law.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and policy formulation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
Duties
- Manage Legal Services and Legislative Services Directorates.
- Provide litigation support for Provincial Education Departments.
- Draft and monitor education legislation (Bills, Acts, Regulations).
- Offer legal advice to DBE leadership.
- Manage court cases on behalf of the Minister and DG.
- Draft and negotiate national and international agreements.
Important Notes
- All shortlisted candidates must complete the SMS Pre-Entry Programme Certificate (NSG Training Course).
- Candidates will undergo competency assessments (technical, integrity, and managerial).
- Successful candidates must sign an annual performance agreement and disclose financial interests.

NOTE:

All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry
assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability
based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an
integrity (ethical conduct) assessment Following the interview and the technical
exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic
managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on
the implementation of competency-based assessments).
The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated
DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. The incumbent will have to sign an
annual performance agreement as well as annually disclose his/her financial
interests and be subjected to a security clearance.
